DIY Pressed Eyeshadow

This is by no means a new thing, but I'd never done it personally, and am a sucker for new craft projects. So here's my DIY eyeshadow!

Video Tutorial:

(a few places offer Kits with all the necisarry parts for doing this project, if you want to get it all in one go:
U-Makeitup
TKB Kit
I cannot personally vouch for these as I didn't use them myself)

Picture Tutorial:

You will need -
Rubbing Alcohol
Glycerin
Mica Powder and Glitter
Stirring Stick
Metal Pans
Magnetic Pallete

(note: you may also want to add a preservative)

Put the pigment and/or glitter into the pans
you can mix them up however you like.
Experiment with colour mixing and colour/glitter combos!

Once the powder is all mixed, fill the pan with the alchohol, and mix it up into a paste.

Add 3-4 drops of glycerin, and mix that in.

I used a dropper to do this, but another stirring stick or cocktail stick to pic up drops of glycerin works just fine too.

Wait for the alcohol to evaporate.

This can take hours, so be prepared to wait. Once it has all evaporated, the surface of the eye shadow will be kinda lumpy and bubbly.

Press it.

Once the alcohol has evaporated, you can press the eye shadow. Use any small, flat object, wrapped in a paper towel, and push it down gently onto the surface of your eye shadow.

Leave them to dry for 24 hours.

Another long waiting time, but it's worth it!
After 24 hours it should be ready to go.
Swatch it, pop the pans into your magnetic palette and wear it!

have you ever made your own makeup?
If you have, or decide to do so now. let me know how it goes!
It's love to see your results.

Manga Monday - Sailor Moon Lineart

This weeks' artwork is a traditional pen and ink illustration.

The concept came from a sketch I did last year, during the lunar event the "blood moon".
Naturally, I associated it with Sailor Moon, being a fan of that series since I was young.

So here is the line art of Sailor Blood Moon.

"Angelic Dandy" Hair and Makeup

Here we have the hair and makeup video for the look I wore to the AMOTY Casting Call this year!

I used a lot of the new products shown in my last makeup haul!

My hair has been left natural. I've been embracing it's curliness lately.

The wings weren't as much of a pain as I'd feared they'd be, they were nice and light.

Thanks for watching!

AMOTY 2016 Vlog

This year's Alternative Model of the Year casting call was last weekend. I somehow managed to sum it up in a 3 minute vlog. Once again, it was an excellent experience, and I got through to the finals!

Japanese Makeup Haul and Try-On

This weekend I did a Haul and Try-On/Review video of my latest makeup order.
Just like last time, everything was ordered from Yes Style, and I am not affiliated with them in any way.

Here's what I got:

Shiseido UV Cutting Lip Balm

This stuff is good. I've used it pretty much every day since it arrived, and it does it's job well. My lips are really dry right now, but this has pretty much sorted them right out.

The only potential down-side is that it has a very strong mint/menthol scent and feeling. It feels cold when you apply it, and tingles. I quite like it now that I;m used to it, but it was a bit weird at first.

Majolica Majorca "Blood On" Cheek and Lip Tint
It was totally the name that originally attracted me to this item. And I can always use red makeup.
This is a really nice blush colour. It's quite subtle and natural looking, and blends in very nicely and easily.

As a lip colour it's useless. Honestly, it didn't show up whatsoever on my lips.

"Love Darling" Eyeliner and Mascara Set.

Creer Beaute's anime nostalgia themed makeup will be the death of me.

I bought this largely to replace the Edude House "Oh M'eye Line" liner that I got last time.
The Etude House one was runny, and weird, and actually seeped onto my eyeball from my eyelid.

This liner had no such issue. Being a Creer beaute product, it's pretty much identical to the Sailor Moon eyeliners. (which I also use, and collect). It's a very fine brush-tip, that dries quickly and stays put. Perfect!

The mascara is pretty great too. The shape of the brush is designed for doing cat-eyes, and it definitely works. It only takes one coat to be thick, dark and even.
I love it.

"Oscar Imapct & Cool Eyes" La Rose de Varsailles Eyeliner

Another Creer Beaute Product, and another hit!
The tip of this eyeliner is so fine, yet so soft. It's perfect for the tight-lining and any time you just need an extra thin line.
It goes on easy and stays on.

Kao - "leise" Smooth Hair Cocktail
This one isn't a makeup product, so consider it a bonus?

My hair is quite thick, and naturally curly. So smoothing products are a constant quest in my life.
This one is pretty good! It doesn't control fly-away hairs much, but it does make my hair incredibly soft and easy to manage.
Also, the bottle is iridescent and it smells sweet. Which is always nice.

~

Thank you for watching and reading! I hope some of this information was useful, if you're thinking of buying any of them yourself.
Or, if you've tried out these products yourself, what did you think of them?
Leave me a comment and let me know!

Outfit Planning with black wings.

This saturday is the Alternative Model Of the Year contest casting call.
So I need to plan an outfit!
I want to incorporate my black wings into the look.

Cutsew: Moi Meme Moitie
Skirt: Metamorphose
Boots: Queen Bee

Wings and angelic themes have been popular in lolita recently, and I really like it!

However, I also feel like a boystyle outfit could be cute with some angel wings:

Blouse: Metamorphose
Salopette: Innocent World

I'd wear each outfit with white knee high socks and my hair in cherub-style ringlets.

One Dress Three Outfits: Green Skirt

Planning and laying out outfits is fun. Today, I'm doing my self-imposed "One Dress, Three Outfits" challenge again. Although, just like last time, I'm working with a skirt and not a dress... oh well!

My main peice for each outfit is this green striped Metamorphose Skirt.

First is a Casual Lolita Outfit:

Cutsew: Heart E
Skirt: Metamorphose
Cardigan and boots are offbrand.
Second is a more formal Lolita outfit.

Headbow: Angelic Pretty
Blouse: FanPlusFriend
Skirt: Metamorphose
Boots: Queen Bee

Third is a School Themed outfit.

Blouse: BPN
Waistcoat: AATP
Skirt: Metamorphose
Loafers and Stockings Offbrand

"Manchester and Momus" Weekend Vlog

A few weeks ago, I went down to Manchester for the weekend and to see Momus

It was utterly exhausting, and I've been recovering since, but it was so much fun a totally worth it.
Getting the hang of vlogging is going to be hard, but it's fun, and I feel like it helps me remember things in that much more detail.

Vampire Photoshoot Makeup and Outfit

Here we have the makeup and outfit video for the Vampire Photoshoot.

I used white powder instead of translucent, to make myself a little -extra- pale.

And was a little more heavy-handed with contour than usual.

The jacket and waistcoat are both vintage finds from Ebay.

The suitcase is from Taobao brand Pluie

"Lost Vampires" Photoshoot with Jurga

A little over a week ago, LostInAFaerieTale and I went to do a photoshoot with Jurga !
The theme was "Lost Vampires", and the idea was to look out of place and lost in the modern world.

This is the second shoot I've done with Jurga that was themed around alienation in Glasgow.
The first being more literally Alien themed! (The Alien Photoshoot)

I also made a vlog style video out of the day! It's not brilliant, and I'm still a little too shy speaking to the cameera. But I think it's a step in the right direction.
